When I started my computer repair business here in Long Island, I wanted honesty and customer satisfaction to be the number one rule and priority. I looked at the auto repair shop business model and thought I will never make my business like theirs! 

I' ve always hated to go to a mechanic and hear: I need to change your water pump, your belt, your transmission and on and on and on...until you get charged a fortune, never end up seeing the old parts to verify the actual damage, never end up seeing the new replaced parts, never end up seeing the receipts which show the actual cost of these parts. You get out of the auto repair shop wondering: Did I really need to replace these parts? Was it really necessary and/or did he just make that all up?

I am sure you thought and felt the same way too unless you know a mechanic that you trust and does his job honestly. Many investigations have been done revealing scams and bad businesses in all fields, what I say isn't new, nonetheless people keep being scammed by these, that is why I keep warning everyone to check the credentials and testimonials of a business before offering your patronage.

For example, in my job, I make sure every time to show the old broken/defective computer part to the customers and leave it to them, I also give them the receipt of the new part which shows the price at which it was purchased and its warranty if any.
At times i snap pictures and/or make short videos of the repair as to show people what exactly was the issue with their computers in cases of hardware repair, and if performed on-site, every step is explained and reported verbally and in writing for future reference.
I wish I could get this kind of service when I bring my car to a mechanic but I will have to wait to see that happen.

The truth is, there will never be a way to really trust somebody when you put in their hands your computer or your car or anything else that needs to be fixed, you just have to do your own research beforehand and go with your guts!

Finally, my business model is: When I walk the streets of Nassau County, Long Island, I will want to say hi to you, not hide from you :).

]]>Thu, 1 Dec 2011 19:31:28 GMT<![CDATA[How to Connect your TV to Your Laptop/Computer?]]> I needed to write how to connect your laptop/computer to the TV as this question is asked all the time by my customers and friends.

So, if you are going crazy and do not know how to do it here is how:

  • Make sure your laptop has an HDMI port like seen here: HDMI
     
  • Make sure your TV has an HDMI port too;
     
  • Now you buy an HDMI to HDMI cable that connects both and make sure to measure the distance in case you have a desktop and not a laptop, this is a great and cheap cable with hundreds of amazing reviews: 6ft and/or 10ft

  • If your laptop or desktop do not have an HDMI port, then you need to buy a DVI to HDMI cable but make sure you have a DVI port on the back of your computer as seen here and this would be the best cheapest choice about 6ft:

  1. HP Notebook/Laptop about $600, fast, cool design and reliable. I always advice to purchase this Warranty with it to have 3 years (including the manufacturer's warranty) of peace of mind in every sense at every level.
     
  2. HP Laptop with remote control, fast, great display, and as always well reviewed and reliable, and here is the Warranty with it.
     
  3. This is the best so far when it comes to value and reviews: Acer with quad-core processor, always make sure to purchase the Warranty with it, there is always the unlucky one that dies after a short period of time or presents serious issues, I can't stress that enough, warranty, warranty and warranty.

Here I list a few of the best and cheapest laptops to purchase, I also recommend to buy these with an extended warranty and a cooling fan pad. Unfortunately the quality of laptops and merchandise in general has degraded dramatically versus the exponential growth of technology, making profit over innovation a rule and an apparent paradox. 

It's almost like these laptops are programmed to fail after the standard one year warranty and there is a reason why it isn't more than that. With my tips you will be able to spend the least money, getting speed, quality and reliability for at least three years including the manufacturer warranty.

I've seen too many laptops breaking for the very same reasons, and these are the processor and graphic card getting burned due to overheating, poor air flow, low quality components and poor design.

So here they are at your fingertip, as explained in Part One, I've spent months putting together these lists and along with my knowledge and experience, I was able to build this guide, hoping you appreciate it.

Facial Recognition Technology Lenovo Laptop: About $400, with that, you need this well reviewed extended warranty for a total of 3 years including the manufacturer one which costs about 80 dollars: Warranty; if anything happens, these people are amazing, you send them the laptop, they repair it and send it back to you for free or refund you almost all the money you spent.     It has literally more than 700 reviews at almost 5 stars making it the absolute winner.
    For reliability, portability and great clear sound, this is the best ever.
